Derek is my nephew. He was the second to volunteer (his father was first)for the most challenging assignment(defending our country). His professional approach and flying skills match his level headed demeanor and impressive courage. I would talk with any future employers about Derek's abilities. Derek with whichever employer is ready to have this wonderful young man on their staff.

I have personally worked and flown with Derek during his tenure as a UH-60 instructor pilot at Ft Rucker, AL. Derek was one of the best, highly motivated, and most professional aviators I had the pleasure to interact with on a daily basis. His dedication to mentoring, instructing, and professionally developing junior aviators, made him an invaluable asset to our unit. In addition, he often sought self improvement and educational opportunities to further his professional aviation career. I would enthusiastically recommend Derek for any future aviation endeavors he wishes to purse.

Through the ranks of PV1-SGT, I was a light wheel vehicle mechanic working on everything from HMMWV (Hummers) to Simi trucks, I served as a Driver/gunner in Iraq providing security for convoys up and down some of the worst roads in the world. After my first tour I volunteered for a second tour as a Infantryman, then went to Indirect-fireman school. We provided base security out side of base. dealing with locals and insurgents trying to do harm to American/coalition troops. I became a squad leader and was able to draw on my past experience to maintain and keep our units trucks and weapons functioning to accomplish the mission. I was personally responsible for over 800,000 dollars worth of equipment and priceless life's.
